I know I am terrible at blogging, and I do apologize. I am busy living my life and marketing and selling books. I am very pleased with the reception I have received over my books.
So last blog I left off, how is it that a sequel came about? With the death of my momma last year and returning to my first edition and creating a second edition, I opened the memory bank in my brain, and my good teenage memories came flooding into my brain in cinematic color, so I prayed do I keep writing? I just knew I had to get this story out of my head and onto paper. We all knew my mother in law had more stories. My sister in law had put them in a safe place in a folder. Here was the clincher and answer to my prayer to keep writing. She went into her mother’s computer that they still had from 2009 and located emails with more stories, from her growing up in the depression era days. The emails were dated March 2009. I had not used these in my first book. At that point it had been completed.
My mother in law had gone into a memory care center in 2021 with the death of her son my husband of forty years it catapulted, her deeper into dementia. With these emails, hand written letters and sketches of the home she grew up in and the adventures and projects my new husband and I had created together over the last nine months and my teenage years coming forward in my memory I was able to formulate a beautiful family love story. It is a historical hysterical factual fiction my new husband likes to call it, as it applied to my teenage years growing up in Paulding and Polk County Georgia in the 70’s. It has at least four actual business establishments for my childhood that are still in operation today and every story told in this book by GG, Nana Lou and Sam are all true experiences.
My latest book is titled LIFE IS LEMONADE WITH PEACHES AND CREAM Return to Great Granny and her Yucky Old Cat. This book has four generations in it. I introduce new characters to fall in love with. My sequel is published and available for purchase. I love personalizing and autographing your copy of my books and sending to you or your loved ones from my stock on hand. My illustrator is a lovely friend who we affectionately call Little Debbie Womack she autographs my book as well. I can be reached via email at YuckyOldCat@Gmail.com to purchase books directly from me. Here is a synopsis of the book: A follow up sequel to GREAT GRANNY AND HER YUCKY OLD CAT. By thirteen a young girl begins to realize life is not always peaches and cream. Molly is now 13 going on 14, not a little girl anymore, but not quite a woman either. This is a very challenging time for a young girl, and if not guided with good wholesome direction it can be detrimental. Molly feels as though she is stuck somewhere in between, with all the confusing feelings this age entails. Return with her and her best friend Shelby to GG’s for more fun outdoor adventures a high speed car chase, a runaway horse and more close calls. There’s always good food laughter and tears to share. Molly meets new friends along the way. Don’t miss the sweet surprise ending.
